Clinical Counselling Services Manager
We are seeking to appoint a well organised, committed and thoughtful person to manage the clinical aspects of the counselling service delivered by Sutton Counselling.
We are a BACP accredited voluntary counselling agency providing psychodynamic counselling to the community of the London Borough of Sutton and surrounding areas (South West London and North West Surrey) at a fee which is affordable for the client’s means. We have 36 counsellors providing up to 115 sessions per week. Counsellors are supported by weekly supervision from one of our nine supervisors, in groups of four counsellors. We are a registered charity and were established in 2001.
The Clinical Services Manager works 12 hours weekly spread over two days (with some flexible working) and is responsible for managing the day to day clinical work of the organisation. This includes receiving assessments and allocating clients to counsellors, as well as the recruitment, appointment and management of counsellors, supervisors and assessors. This is a key management role which reports to the Head of Operations and is supported by an administrator.
We are looking for a well organised, committed and thoughtful, qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor or Psychotherapist with significant experience as a supervisor and strong people management skills.

Sutton Counselling is seeking a supervisor to join our team of experienced supervisors. You should be a qualified and experienced psychodynamic or psychoanalytic counsellor or psychotherapist who has BACP accreditation, or UKCP or BPC registration. A supervision qualification is desirable, or a willingness to undertake one.

Sutton Counselling is a BACP accredited voluntary counselling agency providing psychodynamic counselling to the community of South West London and North West Surrey, at a fee which is affordable according to a client’s means. We have 36 counsellors providing up to 115 sessions per week and they are supported by nine supervisors. We are a registered charity and were established in 2001.
Supervision takes place weekly for 1.5 hours in groups of four voluntary counsellors, the majority of whom are in training. The group may be held via Zoom initially, but groups are generally held at our premises in Central Sutton, close to road, bus and rail links.
The supervisor’s role is to ensure that high clinical standards are maintained, to support the counsellors in their work with clients and to ensure that they are working within the ethos and procedures of Sutton Counselling. This includes providing supervisory oversight of ongoing clinical work and discussing newly assessed clients allocated to a counsellor. Supervisors also conduct an annual appraisal with each counsellor and participate in our annual supervisor appraisal scheme. They may also be asked to complete college reports for trainee counsellors.
This is a self-employed role at the remuneration rate of £40 per hour (£60 per weekly session).
