Sutton Counselling is committed to making counselling available to the whole community. Since 2006 we have offered a number of short-term counselling sessions to refugees and asylum-seekers at no cost to the client.
Clients will tend to be those who have suffered political persecution, torture and sexual violence. Counsellors are specially trained and supervised to work with this client group, in such a way as to help them recover from past sufferings, and to re-build their lives after multiple losses.
Typically we can offer weekly sessions for six weeks or up to a year. Interpreters can be provided if necessary.
Clients can refer themselves, or be referred by GP’s and other specialist organisations, such as Freedom from Torture. We also work closely with Refugee and Migrant Network Sutton (RMNS).
To discuss a referral to the Refugee Service please contact Diana Birkett, Head of Counselling firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0208 661 7869
